Workplace Driver Training Day
(1/2 Day course)

The ½ day course provides staff with a greater knowledge, awareness and practical skills to help keep them, and others, safe on our roads. It is designed to introduce staff to, and allow them to experience, a range of defensive driving skills that can’t be practiced or demonstrated on public roads. Skills that are not usually taught with traditional driving lessons as they are not designed for beginner drivers.
The course sees staff split into groups and rotating through 3 different driving stations to learn and experience different practical skills.
These include:
- Emergency braking and avoidance – learning about and understanding how and why ABS brakes work and then actually doing so. Staff would use the ABS in their cars, at varying speeds before progressing to steering/avoiding while emergency braking
- Eyes up driving – staff learn the importance of looking ahead when driving from both a positional control and a steering point of view, but also a ‘scanning and planning’ point as well. Moving their way through cones that become increasing closer together. Building their steering and positional skills through eyes up driving which is a key skill for defensive driving
- Following distance and spatial awareness – staff get to experience what happens when we follow too close. We discuss this and use practical demonstrations to highlight. We ensure vehicles mirrors are set up correctly in regard to blind-spots and look at spatial awareness and road position and alignment. This includes some fun, practical challenges.
As well as the practical sessions, there is an initial introduction to the day and facilitated discussion around what makes a safe driver and some key talking points and insight around this including fatigue and distractions and then a physical walk around and exploration of the safety features on cars and discuss why they exist, how they work and why they are important. While for many these may seem obvious, most attendees still find themselves learning things they didn’t know about their car and its features.
Finally, we finish with a demonstration around the impact of speed on stopping distance. This is an incredibly eye-opening, visual display of why the speed limits are set in the places they are. This final demonstration leaves staff with a very visual representation of the reason defensive driving, and the skills we teach throughout the day, are so important.
- Cost – $295+GST/person – min. 8 people, max 18.
- For workplaces with less than 8 staff, please get in touch as we will run multi workplace days as needed
Safer Young Driver (SYD) Days
(1/2 day course)

These half day courses are designed to give young drivers (and their parent/guardian) the opportunity to learn and develop driving skills that can’t be taught on public roads, with the aim of keeping them and other road users safer on our roads.
Students will participate in a number of practical workshops led by qualified driving instructors and will be behind the wheel of their own car to learn, experience and practice these skills, including:
- Emergency braking and avoidance
- Eyes Up control and steering
- Following distance and spatial awareness
As well as these practical sessions, there will be demonstrations and facilitated discussions looking at a range of things with both the vehicle and the individual that help keep us safe on the roads.
The course cost is for one student, in their own vehicle. A parent or caregiver is expected to attend with the paying student FREE OF CHARGE. This is a great opportunity for parents helping teach their children to drive to learn how and what to teach as well as brushing up on some of the knowledge and information themselves.
This is ideally best suited to young drivers who have already obtained their Restricted (Restricted drivers are 7x more likely to be involved in a serious or fatal crash), however Learner drivers who have at least 30hrs of driving should be capable of this course. Those younger drivers on their Full license are also welcome to attend.
Pre-requisites:
- Restricted License or Learners with more than 30hrs driving
- Road Legal Vehicle – Checked prior to use (WOF and Registered)
- No large or loose items in vehicle that will move during sudden movements
- Parent or Guardian to attend
Course numbers are limited. If you are unsuccessful with this date you will added to a Waitlist. Should a space become available, Waitlist customers will be notified. We will also add new dates in time and Waitlist customers will be get first option on these.
